The "Commonweel" is one of the leading cancer support programs
in the US. It was founded more than 20 years ago by Michael
Lerner, PhD and Rachel Naomi Remen, MD, both featured in the
"Healing and the Mind" series by Bill Moyers. This program
is now being offered at the Smith Farm for the Healing Arts
in Washington D.C.
The program includes yoga, relaxation, meditation, imagery,
massage, group support and exploration of options in established
and complementary cancer therapies and is open to people with
cancer who are under the care of an oncologist or qualified
physician.
Shanti Norris is the executive director of the Smith Farm for
the Healing Arts. She was co-founder of the Integral Yoga
Institute of Richmond in 1982 and served as assistant to
Sri Swami Sachidananda for 10 years during his travels
around the world.
